Ampro Names President and COO

San Jose, California, May 3, 1999. Ampro Computers, Inc., the leading global provider of PC-compatible computer modules tailored to OEM embedded applications, has named Joanne L. Mumola Williams its president and chief operating officer.

Before joining Ampro, Williams gained over 26 years of electronics engineering and management experience within IBM. Her career began at IBM's Austin Texas development laboratory in 1972, where she developed hardware and microcode for word processor displays and received five patents, including the base invention for what is commonly known as "print preview."

Most recently, in her role as the director of storage technology sales and marketing at IBM, Williams created a highly successful startup division that shipped over 50 million magneto-resistive recording heads within just 18 months. Her prior experience includes serving as manufacturing engineering manager where she directed a 200 person, three shift operation producing 10,000 electronic assemblies per day; program manager for worldwide electronic card assembly and test; hardware development manager for advanced voice applications at Rolm Systems; and program director for intellectual property licensing.

"Ampro enables its customers to get to market faster," says Williams. "I plan on continuing to make that our top priority and to establish Ampro as the total solution provider."

"Joanne brings a high degree of vitality, organizational strength, and operational experience that will help us secure our position as the embedded-PC market leader as both the market and our company continue to mature," comments Ampro cofounder Rick Lehrbaum. "It's extremely rare to find an individual with such a high degree of both business and technical acumen," adds Lehrbaum.

"Ampro is the embedded industry leader," says Williams. "The employee and management team is so strong and talented that I know this company will continue to break new technological ground in the embedded world."

Williams holds a master's degree in electrical engineering and a bachelor's degree in biology from the University of Texas. She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Eta Kappa Nu.

Now in its 16th year, Ampro is widely recognized as the leading global provider of modular embedded computer solutions for OEM applications. Ampro originated the PC/104 and PC/104-Plus standards, and co-authored (with Motorola) the EBX high-performance non-backplane single board computer standard (based on Ampro's popular LittleBoard form-factor). Ampro's extensive line of PC/104 form-factor CoreModule CPUs and MiniModule expansion products, and EBX form-factor LittleBoard single board computers enable OEMs to integrate PC-compatible architectures into their products while minimizing system size and shortening time-to-market.
