Ampro Computers Appoints Embedded Industry Veteran Paul Rosenfeld
As Vice President Of Marketing

Former Marketing and Business Development Executive at Mentor Graphics/Microtec, Rolm and Intel Returns to Embedded Computing Leader

San Jose, CA, Feb. 28, 2000. Paul Rosenfeld has been appointed Vice President of Marketing for Ampro Computers, Inc., the leading supplier of PC/104 and EBX-compatible boards for the worldwide embedded computing marketplace. In this position, Mr. Rosenfeld will be responsible for Ampro's strategic direction, product management and marketing communications. He reports to Joanne Williams, President and COO.

Most recently, Mr. Rosenfeld was director of business development at CoWare, a supplier of system-level design tools, and director of marketing and business development at the Embedded Software Division of Mentor Graphics, a supplier of real-time operating systems (RTOS) and software tools for the embedded market. Prior to that, Mr. Rosenfeld held management and marketing posts at several companies, among them, Vadem, Rolm and Intel Corp. He began his professional career as a software engineer at Hewlett Packard. Mr. Rosenfeld also served as Ampro's Marketing Vice President from 1989 to 1991.

"Paul will be a great asset to Ampro Computers' management team as we secure its position as the embedded-PC market leader and," Williams continues, "establish Ampro Computers as a technology innovator for both traditional and emerging embedded computing applications."

Market Coming of Age

According to Mr. Rosenfeld, the embedded computing market has grown up. "Ten years ago, we did business with few large customers who bought at most several hundred boards a year. Today, Ampro has many Fortune 1000 customers, who often buy thousands of boards annually. I guess you'd say the embedded PC market has gone from its infancy to its teenage years, and is now poised to move into its prime," he added.

Challenge

According to Mr. Rosenfeld, the market Ampro Computers addresses with its current product line is approximately $250 million and growing. Unlike the mid-80s, when Ampro pioneered the embedded PC-compatible single board computer industry, he stated: "The embedded PC market has become a commoditized, highly competitive, highly fragmented marketplace. Our challenge is to both wear the mantle of leadership in traditional markets," Mr. Rosenfeld added, "while extending the breadth of modular embedded computing to new segments."

In a related development at Ampro Computers' marketing organization, Paul D. Wcislo has joined the company as director, marketing communications. Most recently, Mr. Wcislo worked in marketing communications management roles for the semiconductor chip manufacturing leader UMC Group, wireless technology start-up ArrayComm, and semiconductor test equipment maker Schlumberger. He reports to Mr. Rosenfeld.
